Anxiety

Everything feels overwhelming.
Racing heart, difficulty breathing, unable to focus, can’t make decisions, and the negative thoughts never end.
Falling asleep is the worst part of the day because you cannot stop your thoughts, and feel like you are in a chronic state of fight-or-flight.
You always think about the worst-case scenario and convince yourself that it is what is going to happen.
Overthinking makes every task feel daunting.
Everything you do or say seems overwhelming. You rehearse and prepare for everything, but you still worry that you have not done enough.
Once you are back home, you overthink the entire day, convinced you have done or said something wrong. Chronic worry makes you feel like you have not done enough at work or that your boss does not like you. You feel like the shoe is about to drop all the time.
No matter what feedback you receive, you are convinced you are not “good enough.” When you get a compliment, you believe they are “just being nice” but don’t think the nice things they say.
When you get positive feedback at work, you worry only about what they didn’t say, instead of what they did say. You second-guess what people say to you, looking for the hidden meaning.

Are you ready to quiet the anxiety?
It may feel like nothing will help because I am sure you have tried and tried to stop your anxiety, with little success.
Evidence-based therapy can help more than you may believe.
With 20+ years of working with people who struggle with anxiety, I have learned and developed many tools and techniques that provide lifelong help with all of anxiety’s symptoms.
Everyone is different, so I have received extensive training and certifications in various therapy modalities to tailor therapy to benefit each individual’s uniqueness.
In therapy, we will work together.
At the beginning of the journey to mastering your anxiety, we will take a deep dive into where you are right now with your anxiety, then go back to figure out how you got here.
By identifying how your anxiety came to be, we will learn why it developed.
It may seem strange, but anxiety is a coping skill to keep you safe. The trick is to figure out what your anxiety is trying to keep you safe from.

From there, we will learn what your triggers are.
The next step is to help you learn to anticipate when you will likely be triggered and match your triggers with more helpful coping skills, which means the anxiety is no longer needed to keep you safe.
I have many tools to teach you, and we will work together to find what works best.
You likely know some of the tools, like mindfulness and exposure therapy, but there are other things that we will incorporate as well, such as EMDR/bilateral stimulation, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and possibly, we’ll use Polyvagal therapy, mindsight techniques, and maybe even a little education about neurology.
We will work to identify feelings in your body that occur with anxiety, and I will teach you how to quiet them so you can breathe, focus, think more clearly, and reduce overthinking.
You are not in this alone.
Anxiety can feel very isolating, but you do not have to suffer alone any longer. I will be here to walk by your side as you find ways to overcome anxiety’s hold on you.
