PTSD and Trauma

Time to leave the ghosts behind.

Intrusive, uninvited memories haunt you no matter what you do to try to shed them. They even wind up waking you up at night, invading your dreams.

You avoid any people, places, or activities that remind you of the ghosts of your past. It seems impossible to feel joy and happiness.

Negative thoughts will not leave you alone. Controlling emotions is challenging, and you overreact to things, even when you know you should not be so irritable. Maintaining focus and concentration eludes you.

The effects of trauma may make you feel like there is no way out of this cycle, but there is hope!

Therapy is not just talking about your past.

We once believed that talking about trauma helps people move past it. We now know better! Individuals who have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) need more than talking. They need to find ways to move past the trauma that keeps them stuck in a vicious cycle. There are a lot more techniques that help people, not just talking.

In therapy with me, some sessions will focus on EMDR, but it is not the only tool we will use. EMDR will help reduce the intense emotions that result from past traumas, which is helpful, but we can do more.

You survived! That means you developed coping skills that helped, and we will uncover those skills and use them to help you recover. When your emotions get the best of you, I will teach you mindfulness techniques so you can control them instead of them controlling you.

By engaging in therapy, you will gain control of your thoughts, emotions, and actions. There will be no need to avoid; concentration will improve, the negative thoughts will subside, and you will no longer battle with intrusive thoughts.

You are not alone in the struggle.

Are you ready to feel better? I have worked with people who have trauma and PTSD for 20+ years with tremendous success.

No two people are alike, so I will customize therapeutic approaches to meet your needs. You may have been to therapy before with no results, but that does not mean therapy does not work.
